photos that worked for us using light and shadow work, we showed examples of how you can produce different effects with shadow and thought that our ideas were relevant to represent each of us, the things that were not working for us were some positions we stood in.
Which we successfully changed so that we could get a good photo.

Political art Cassandra RAW

My blog for this subject would be, on the message you can get from street and political art, and also how a persons perspective can be changed on certain subjects and issues through the use of art.
Because from behind other peoples eyes, their is always another view, of how something can be seen. The message you interpreted by other peoples art can only be your own.
If I was to use my art to get a message across to my community and the world,
it would probably be, strongly influenced and pushed into the direction of keeping culture alive within a country, and also equality to artist within all cultures.
My audience would be anyone and everyone, who agrees that artworks should be kept within a culture and country that it originated from.
And if you are not indigenous or do not have that bloodline, you should have to apply to use that countries, symbols, flags, motifs and crafts.
I strongly believe you shouldn't, use a countries patterns, just for your own gain.
If not to promote the country and represent the true identity and culture of a country, then you shouldn't be using it at all.
In fact if you don't know the meaning behind any of those things, then you should just steer well away from it altogether.
I personally, would share my work through magazines,TVs, and walls to communicate my message.
The techniques I would use would be based around stencil, paint and passion for my cause.
So to answer the question, "yes" I do believe street art and political have a place in my life.

My Quote for Mentor/ Cassandra RAW

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Valvano

RAW/ My Mentor blog /Cassandra

In an instant if i was to think of a person that has inspired me, and influenced my life, I would have to say my father through out my life he has been my mentor with encouragement, support, and push to be the best me i can be.
Others perceive him as hard on me, and a very strict influence, although he is a very different person than you would first realise, if you got to know him you would know, the only person he is hard on is himself.

body of works by an artist named Shirin Neshat found her work very inspiring especially this picture Im not exactly sure why, it just meant something to me, I think it was the face that the writing was on the hand and covering the mouth as though there was a secret that could not be spoken.

#Raw Cassandra Our Manifesto Debs,Leo,Shay,Ralph

Our Manifesto based on our quote:  which goes
"Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete, proving nature laws wrong.
It learned to walk without having feet.
Funny it seems to be keeping its dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no else even cared" by Tupac Shakur
NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CULTURE'S
OUR ART IS EQUAL
AGAINST ALL ODDS
WE FIND OURSELVES WITHIN ART
THAT REFLECTS OUR TRUE IDENTITY
LIKE A ROSE THAT GREW FROM CONCRETE.

Combining photography with Photoshop.

I SEE RED, I SEE RED, I SEE RED, Benjamin Work's first solo exhibition explores the latent power of the colour red and its association with violent acts, grouping and beliefs from the world view of the artist as a New Zealand born Tongan. "Kula" (red) and "uli" (black) have been present in Tongan thinking and practice for centuries and today find resonance with contemporary Pacific Youth and gangs.

I SEE RED, I SEE RED, I SEE RED also references Pacific/Moana cultural concepts and migration.

Exhibition date: 14 March - 26 April 2014
OPENING: 6pm, Thursday 13 March

Public Programme:
Artist floor talk with Benjamin Work
When: 12 - 1pm, Saturday 29 March

Benjamin Work is a south Auckland-based visual artist of Tongan heritage. Work has a strong foundation in aerosol painting and graffiti and is a core member of the Auckland art collective, TMD.

In recent years, Work's practice has expanded to photography and performance. Work's diverse output includes large scale public mural commissions, limited editions and postage stamps. Work is also a member of the Auckland-based Tongan art collective, No'o Fakataha.
